A durable black NBR (Nitrile Butadiene Rubber) surround fends off moisture and temperature extremes for long-term speaker accuracy. Even when the music is hot, this sub stays nice and cool with a four-layer, 2-1/2" voice coil. You'll also find small vents around the frames (spider plateau venting) helps dissipate hot air under the spider and curb distortion.
